To continue, climb six concrete steps to a three-foot-wide concrete platform. A low handrail on the right side begins at the second step. Close to the platform are two distinct petroglyphs on a six-foot triangular-shaped boulder. At the top is a two-foot-tall outline of a bird. Its head, with a single deeply incised eye, is in profile with the beak pointing to the right. Its body is somewhat circular and on the left side a wing stretches out and curves down. On the right side, its leg and talons are extended. The tail feathers hang down below the body and are represented by four straight lines. Two short feathers on the right and left, with two longer feathers in the middle. It is not certain if this image is a macaw, which is a large parrot. To some Pueblo people, this is a mourning dove. However, it is known that Pueblo people traded pieces of turquoise for macaws to be brought back to live among them. And many Pueblos have parrot clans. It is also known that parrots signify rain. And there was a period of drought during the ancestral Puebloan period. Perhaps it was thought that bringing the birds to live among the people would also bring rain. Archaeologists at Chaco Canyon unearthed a room that contained entombed parrots, and parrot feathers are used in ceremonies by today's Pueblo culture. From these clues, it is thought that this petroglyph is a macaw. However, like all petroglyphs, the actual meaning is only known to those who carved them. The second petroglyph is three inches below and to the left of the bird. It is an outline of a one-foot square box. In the box is a horizontal line with what appears to be a perching bird, its beak facing right with a curved wing extended up and pointing left, its two legs perched on the stick, its tail feathers point left. Other petroglyphs on this boulder, below and to the right of the birds, are faint and appear to be geometric forms. About 70 feet up the slope is a petroglyph with a diagonal line about three feet long and a scissor-handle-shaped outline on the right end. To Pueblo people, it may represent a yucca pod just before it opens up in the spring. A sign provides information about petroglyphs. To listen to the content of the sign, push the circular button now.

What are our customers saying about depression benchmarks? Benchmarks got us to discuss things we typically don't discuss, some of the other comorbid factors that could make a hospital stay longer or create relapse. Depression benchmarks elevated the importance of depression, opened up our eyes to look at our own internal numbers, made the radar screen. Hadn't been a priority, but this made it a priority because it gave us numbers we should be looking at. Changed antidepressant compliance program based on what they were able to determine from using the website. Trying to address compliance with different interventions. We tracked down our own information internally. Our plan shared the depression benchmarks information with others in the organization, corporate medical director, chief medical office and clinical pharmacists who are versed in depression, to review to see how our health plan was doing as compared to nationally. What does artistic success mean to you? Today's definition could be fame and fortune. But what do you think it meant to this guy? Dyslexic and struggling in school, John Lennon was destined to be a child left behind before emboldened by an opportunity to create and perform. There is a long list of world-famous creators and writers who indeed attained fame and fortune. But most of them have admitted in one way or another that artistic expression achieved something much more important. It saved them. The art center is more than a place, a gallery, or a studio. It's a pathway, a portal to powerful things that exist in all of us, a power that can instill new insight, new confidence, new self-awareness, and inspiration. These epiphanies can happen at any time and at any age. Kezi is 8. Earl is 87. I think art is a very important thing to do. When you're expressing yourself, it's kind of like telling somebody how you feel, but they can see it. Earl's iconic designs have been the face of the Monterey Jazz Festival, theatrical events, and countless more. I'm still out there selling posters and art of things. I have more confidence now because I have confidence in what I do. A day in school for a child with ADD or ADHD can be nightmarish. Without the confidence and the experience of using their heart, mind, and skills to produce things that were not thought possible. What kind of art do you like to do right now? Still, it would be pottery. I'd take, like, I don't know, like that much clay. I'd put my hands through it. Feeling that texture, it's really nice. And when you're finished, you can see what it's going to be. And then you're like, wow, I can't believe I made that. When kids pass through these doors, there are no tests. But there is one question. Are you ready to experience a sense of wonder? Nearly 5,000 youths and adults participate in the Art Center's classes, camps, public events, and residencies. The Art Center's Young Artists Program is a vital and positive path for more than 3,500 high-risk kids in our town. We count Jackson Street Youth Services, Community Outreach, Yes House, and the Oak Creek Youth Correctional Facility as our friends and partners in providing stimulating and rewarding opportunities for those who need it most. So much of what we achieve benefits our community as a whole. Yet, only 10% of our $500,000 budget comes from Corvallis City funds. We need your support to ensure these arts programs continue to serve youth, adults, professional artists, and anyone exploring their creative abilities for the first time. It is never too late to experience a sense of wonder, igniting creative passions, instilling new self-confidence, providing new tools for learning and achieving, and inspiring a lifetime of fulfillment all define our vision of artistic success. Please help us continue that successful vision here at the Art Center.
